On August 22, 2026, the Ka-Techys Team from the Rotary Club of Quezon City MediaTech, in collaboration with EUROTV Cares and the Gawad Pilipino Awards, embarked on a nearly four-hour journey from Manila to Barangay Nabuclod in Floridablanca, Pampanga. They carried with them more than just supplies; they carried a spirit of malasakit (compassion). Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by nearly 500 members of the Aeta community. After the long drive, the distance quickly became secondary as conversations began, children played, meals were shared, and simple moments fostered meaningful connections. The Ka-Techys served Sopas ng Pag-ibig and spaghetti while distributing grocery packs, hygiene kits, clean drinking water, blue water-storage gallons, clothes, and toys. Katutubo Cares was about more than just providing material assistance. Time was spent listening, sharing stories, playing with the children, offering encouragement, and treating each person with dignity and respect. Led by Legacy President Fellie Castillo, Charter President Meric Mara, and President-Elect Gina Cappal, this journey exemplified service that goes beyond comfort and convenience. Every hour on the road represented a commitment to reach a community that deserves to be seen, heard, remembered, and cared for. Katutubo Cares demonstrated what happens when malasakit is transformed into action. Distance became a journey worth making, resources became opportunities to share, and ordinary moments evolved into meaningful service. For the Ka-Techys, service extends beyond city limits. No community is ever too far to reach, and no act of genuine care is ever too small to matter.
